  I learnt in a Sanskrit class at the monastery that Sanskrit is referred to as the language of God and that the Buddhas latter teachings were directly translated into Sanskrit by Kuramajiva (344–413 CE) from oral tradition. He is mostly remembered for the prolific translation of Buddhist texts written in Sanskrit to Chinese he carried out during his later life.
